Overview of default tariff and charges for England Water and Wastewater Services
Our Default Tariff is based on the charges set out by Ofwat under the Retail Exit Code. The charges apply where you are either a Deemed Customer, or you have agreed a contract with us that provides a discount from our Default Tariff. These charges differ depending on your annual consumption as detailed below:
For customers consuming less than 0.5Ml of water or wastewater services per annum (defined as Customer Group One by Ofwat), your annual charge is set based on the wholesale charge plus an allowance set by Ofwat for our cost to serve, margin, bad debt costs and meter reading costs (where your supply is metered). The allowances set by Ofwat for the 2025-26 charging period can be found here, at Table 2.
For customers consuming more than 0.5Ml of water or wastewater services per annum (defined as Customer Group Two by Ofwat), your annual charge is set based on the wholesale charges for your area plus an allowed margin set by Ofwat. The allowed margin set by Ofwat can be found here, under section A2.
